In the glass this is clear, pale gold with a hint of green. Nose is clean, medium-plus intensity mix of floral, grapefruit, pear, and a distinctive Okanagan grassy-sage aroma (I grew up in south central BC). Dry with a hint of residual sugar—one can discern Joie’s Riesling grapes fighting through—but dominated by citrus—lemon, grapefruit, and [...]

Clear, medium lemon-gold appearance. Clean, medium-plus intensity perfumed floral nose with a hint of ripe tropical fruit—very nice. Just off dry, high acidity, and light-plus bodied. Intense spice, floral, and again tropical fruit qualities. Nicely balanced, and a good long finish. The heat of the 14% alcohol is apparent. Overall very good; recommended. $34 at [...]

Appearance is clear, pale, and gold-green. Clean, medium intensity nose of lemon-spice, floral/perfumed notes, and a bit of petrol. Dry with a hint of residual sugar; high acidity, medium body, and again floral-mineral on the palate, a nice balance and nice medium-plus finish. 13% alcohol. Overall good; recommended. $21.90 at Marquis Wine Cellars. See Meyer [...]

Clear, pale gold appearance. Clean, medium intensity honey-floral-lemon nose. Off-dry, high acidity and light-plus bodied, the palate is dominated by citrus and ripe pear with mineral and licorice notes. Medium length; very sharp 14.6% alcohol, a bump up from their 2009, which I think I preferred. But this is straightforward and enjoyable. $22.90 at Crosstown [...]

Bought this at The Tasting Room in Seattle last weekend; I always enjoy going there when I’m in the city. Clear, pale-plus gold in the glass. Medium plus intensity distinctive petrol/oil, ripe banana, and floral aromas. Off dry, high acidity, and medium body. Palate is dominated by ripe, almost overripe, fruit: mango, banana, and grapefruit. [...]

Medium lemon-yellow appearance with a nice clean, medium intensity floral-spice-mineral nose. Off-dry, high acidity and medium bodied, with lovely perfume and blossom dominating and mineral, lemon-spice bringing up the rear, particularly on the finish, which is nice and long. 13.5% alcohol. Very nice; I recommend this one. $45.90 at Marquis. See Domaine Albert Mann.

Clear, light lemon appearance. Clean, medium intensity floral-spice and honey nose. Dry with a hint of residual sugar; high acidity and medium body. Lime, crisp apple, and pepper spice on the palate; good length. 13.5% alcohol. Overall good; enjoyable. $31.65 at Crosstown. See Lucien Albrecht.

Clear, pale lemon-gold appearance. Clean, light floral-lemon mineral nose. Off-dry with medium acidity and medium body. Pronounced sweet spice, floral-perfume, ripe fruit and citrus; a bit of earthiness on the finish. 13.5% alcohol; medium length. Perhaps better balanced than the 2007. Very good, particularly for the price—$24 at Crosstown.

Oak Bay Gewürztraminer 2008

When I think Oak Bay I think of the neighbourhood in Victoria. There must be another Oak Bay in the Okanagan, as this is from Kelowna. This Gewürz is a pale silver, with a strong, straightforward grapefruit nose—maybe a bit of that BC Interior sage. A nice light but acidic drink, with spice, citrus, and [...]

Clear, light lemon-gold with a very nice floral-spice nose. Light citrus-lychee with good acidity that drops off to a lingering finish. A nice drink; I’ve enjoyed the Washington State wines I’ve tried recently. 12.5% alcohol. $24.90 at Marquis Wine Cellars. See Montinore Estate—biodynamically farmed.
